Wellbeing and mental health update

Updated: Feb 14, 2019

Welcome to our new weekly wellbeing update! Below you will find the latest news and updates on wellbeing and mental health. If you have any questions about wellbeing or mental health please do not hesitate to get in touch with Mrs Cullen or Mrs Carella.

If you are looking for a way to talk about mental health with your child these two videos are a really useful starting point:

We all have mental health video (secondary age pupils)

Talking mental health video (primary age pupils)

These videos focus on the difference between everyday and overwhelming feelings and aim to get children thinking about the importance of looking after mental health as well as physical health. Some of the students in the senior school have watched these videos and we were really impressed with the discussion and reflection that came out of it.

Should you be in the market for some light bedtime reading you might want to have a look at NHS England’s ten-year plan to improve the quality of patient care and health outcomes. Of particular interest are the plans to: invest in and expand access to community-based mental health services; expand the provision of timely and age-appropriate mental health crisis services for children and young people; and embed mental health support in schools and colleges. Have a restful weekend!

It can be difficult to get more than a one word response from your children when asking how their day at school was.
