AHS alumnus delivers keynote speech at Google SEND event

On 6 February, AHS alumnus Mason joined Head of IT Peter Reeves to deliver the keynote speech at Google for Education SEND Symposium, a one-day in-person event designed for practitioners committed to inclusive education. The inaugural event saw 200 guests visit the UK headquarters of Google, including a range of SENCos from across England and Wales.

17-year-old Mason did a fantastic job speaking about accessibility tools and the way they revolutionised his learning, allowing him to access qualifications and opportunities that previously seemed unattainable. In Mason’s own words:

‘Without the tools, I could have a plan for the paragraph and would only get one or two sentences down in a lesson – now I can actually get the whole paragraph down in a minute or less. Accessibility features have allowed me to access work more easily. I have been able to have a better work rate, and these tools have allowed me to achieve things that I never thought were possible.’
